Basketball is a sport where you can recreate yourself. Michael Jordan’s success was not based on his great coaches – it is all in the player.

For example, Jordan never stopped training and never underestimated its importance – commitment to training is the key to success.

Here are some general tips:

Shoes: Wear well-padded and appropriately sized basketball shoes when you practice or play. Basketball shoe laces must be tied to the top of the shoe.

Snacks: Keep plenty of cold water on hand and continuously hydrate your child before, during and after a game or practice. Avoid drinking pop – the phosphoric acid can weaken kids bones also avoid sugary drinks.

Ensure your child gets enough protein – this allows healthy development of muscle tissue – choose the right type of proteins that are low in saturated fats – these include chicken, fish, nuts, seeds and low-fat dairy products. Low-fat yogurt, milk and cheese are excellent sources of protein that also promote bone health – finicky eaters, sprinkle granola or fresh berries into yogurt or provide a low-fat chocolate milk for a tasty, healthy between-game snack.

Choose raw fruit fresh to get the maximum amount of vitamins and minerals. Try apples, pears, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, oranges, nectarines, kiwi and mangoes.
